Cylindrical lenses

Cylindrical lenses are optical components that have a flat side and a convex or concave side.

The curvature surface is a portion of a cylinder rather than a portion of a sphere as in spherical lenses.

Cylindrical lenses do not generate a focal point but rather a focal line parallel to the axis of the cylinder. They are typically used to generate lines of light.
